gassiness...frustration....stress
oh i'm sorry.
i haven't been here in ages. i haven't responded to emails. i haven't returned calls. i am sorry. it has been a very difficult span of time.
the baby was constipated. we brought her to the doctor, who told us that sometimes infants forget how to "push". hmmm. isn't that what you'd call a natural urge? and she was pooping, wasn't she? well, she was very stressed, very uncomfortable and it was eating me alive to see this poor baby like this. the doctor stuck her finger up maggie's butt. maggie screamed bloody murder and i wanted to die. she said we could switch her to enfamil soy formula from the similac if we thought that might help. well, if she's forgotten how to push, what good will switching her formula be? but i believed the problem to BE the formula, and i thought the solution was NOT to give up on milk and give her soy. so we gave her a few days (she did resume pooping, but the uncomfortable-ness remained) and i thought, fuck this. we switched her to good start, and i am still nursing her 2 to 3 times a day. she had a rough 24 hour period, and then it was like we had a new baby. maggie was completely herself again. she's now sleeping a few times during the day (this had completely stopped and i was busy pretty much 24 hours a day with the poor thing) and i'm able to do the dishes and straighten up again. she's happy again, and attentive. i read a dr seuss to her and she watched me and the book with rapt attention. she's so friggin cute.
so life is slowly returning to normal. and i'll be back. and i'll be in touch with you if i owe you correspondence - just be patient - please! :)
see you soon!

The good thing is she is back to being her normal self. What a Huge relief for you. When new babies get sick or something just isn't right...it's like your Whole World caves in, isn't it? Maggie is the most important thing. All the house work and e-mail can just wait. 24 hour shifts are brutal, I feel for you. I'm just glad she's better.
Dr Seuss is in the house so everything will be alright :0)
I've never heard of such a thing. That's weird. But you have a beautiful baby. :)
She's lovely and all that.
