half days are the way to go.

oh it was so nice to have our office close at 1pm. of course, there was an emergency, and i had to stay. i just couldn't leave someone stuck. i was able to help with something that seemed kind of minor, but it turned out that i helped avoid a huge catastrophe. made me very happy that i hung on. i still got home before 3pm, so i have no complaints.

yesterday we saw the doctor. maggie is once again breech. she's 7 pounds, 4 oz, which isn't so bad. i thought she might have hit 8 pounds by now, so i'm happy with that. the doctor isn't too worried about her change in position. she's done this like 2 or 3 times now. he feels we should wait and see, keep checking weekly, but if my water breaks or labor starts, no fucking around. i need to go directly to the hospital. no problem doc. it was the first time he mentioned the possibility of a c-section. i told him i'm absolutely fine with that if that's what's needed. he will not get a fight from me. just take care of my child.

oh! and i asked him if i could do one blood test per day since the diabetes really doesn't seem like a problem. he said absolutely. thank god. it was getting to be such a drag and i've skipped tests because they simply do not go up. if i ate more carbs, i'd test. so now i feel much happier. blood pressure is fine and i gained a bit more weight.

our friend who works downstairs, and who will be watching maggie when we are both working (it's going to be 2 hours a day for 2 days a week, or something really great like that) came up to the apartment with gifts for her! lots of onesies and they're progressively sized, socks, a snuggly blanket, a fold up bathtub and lots more! what a sweetheart. and my sister came by last night with her gift. a graco travel system!!! yeah!!!! we're so excited. maggie's room is brimming with stuff. we can't get over it. i think we're going tomorrow to buy her a changing table/dresser. i don't know if we're getting a crib yet, since she's going to be in a co sleeper for the first 3 months or so in our room with us.

i have a sneaking suspicion that i have my real baby shower tomorrow. i'm excited.

okay. i have nothing more to report for today. i have to go figure out how to buy a nursing bra and what will i need to pack for the hospital. i really feel like maggie is ready and might be coming very soon!! damn the breech position, she's finished with the womb soon enough!

:)

And on the nursing bra tip: On this 3rd go around: I made the decision to remain unflappable and have foregone the expense and the fussiness of the traditional nursing bra. I can't say enuf good things about the t-strap sports bra. they are easily liftable and the only drawback is the dreaded uni-boob. but i have learned to embrace the uni-boob :0)
