Just Swell



My ankles, or cankles actually. They've begun to swell during the day. It was a nighttime activity for them during the past few months, but yesterday and the day before they tried it during a different shift.

My doctor is a little paranoid, and because this pregnancy has been so easy and uneventful for the most part, he keeps stressing to me that i need to call him if ANYTHING out of the ordinary happens. i expected to hear "keep your feet up, drink some water". Instead, I got "go home as soon as you can, put your feet up on 2 or 3 pillows, drink as much water as you can tolerate, and if they are still swollen in the morning, you are not permitted to go to work, and you may need to start your leave this week." What?? I was very happy to see my old feet this morning when I woke up.

But last night, I decided to park my but with a french movie i had wanted to see. perfect timing really too, because it had just come yesterday from netflix. it's called "cache" with daniel auteuil (i truly love him - have you guys seen "jean de florette" and "manon of the spring"? "le placard/ the closet"? - the man can do anything.) and juliette binoche (like her a whole lot too) but it's directed by michael heneke (who scares the shit out of me and has scarred me for life with some of his past crap, and i even promised myself that i'd never put myself through another one of his "films"). this is what i get for betraying myself. yet another scar!!! well, 2!!!! if any of you have seen this, please email me. i want to know what you think it means, and i'm wondering if i missed something very vital in the end. as freaky and evil and upsetting as it was, the story was engrossing and i couldn't stop the film. i did fast forward through some scenes, but not many. hey, i was trying to protect myself!!

i have "kiss kiss bang bang", "freedomland", and "out of africa" out on rental, and i'll hopefully get to at least one of them this week.
