I'm a mystery fan. I've recently discovered Alexander McCall Smith. Have you ever read him? I didn't expect to be so taken in by his characters, or by Africa for that matter. These are beautiful books about people who really seem alive. I can honestly say I've never read anything like them. A reviewer said of Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency that Precious Ramotswe, the main character, is like Miss Marple in Botswana. I get that, but she's so different at the same time. Mma Ramotswe is a student of human nature like Miss Marple. I like them both!
