Today I had my official doctor appointment where I was to get blood drawn and find out if the pregnancy was really a positive, and if it might be a tubal pregnancy, which would have been really bad.

They took 4 tubes of blood. Blech.

Then I had an exam, which I wasn't fully prepared for, but I'm glad it happened.

It's a baby. And it's a baby in exactly the right place, the exact right size and everything looks great.

What a relief!!

My doctor says I'm 4 weeks pregnant. She'll be able to give me a more specific due date on my next visit, which will be December 19.

I'm so happy. I'm really going to have a baby!!!

After my visit, I hiked from the East Side of Manhattan back to Penn Station. It was so nice to get out and excercise with such beautiful news and comforting reassurance. I called my husband, my sister and a few friends to let them know. Wow - what a response! People are really excited and happy.

My doctor said that she didn't want me to eat too much sugar, and I'm not. I'm trying to keep it as healthy as possible without getting really bored. She also asked me not to jump. Jump? She said she once went into a gym she'd joined and saw all these heavily pregnant women jumping up and down in an aerobics class. She couldn't believe her eyes. She told me she believes this is the reason that babies sometimes have the cord wrapped around their necks, and she believes they are sometimes born with shaken baby syndrome. Jeez. No jumping for me. I asked about yoga for mommies to be - she said that's fine. So that's my next step. Yoga class. And Italian class!

Enough for now!
